A very close game between two evenly matched teams ended in a 2-1 win for the visitors. A very poor start from West Bridgford saw Vernon take the lead with an OG in the first 5 minutes. West Bridgford suddenly woke up and the rest of the half saw a competitive match with little created in either final third. The second half carried on in the same vein. West Bridgford had a goal disallowed for offside, but both kept trying. For visitors it started to look like something might happen and then it all changed after one brilliant save from keeper Josh Newnham. Vernon won a free kick on the edge of WB’s box. It was a great free kick, but somehow Josh got to it. WB mopped up the loose ball and went straight up the other end and scored. They now had the momentum and the second came through Patrick Ferguson. It could have been a nervy last 5 minutes but WB finished strongly. It was a bit harsh on Vernon as it had been a close contest all the way through.
