An exciting application of research should be robotic avatars. The use of potential, near future models of the Oculus Rift, combined with electronic sensory equipment, such as special types of gloves, body suits perhaps, could enable someone to interact with their environment remotely. The electronic sensory equipment could simulate the touch and weight of objects. They could pick up objects, solder circuitry, perform electronic wiring and more on a piece of machinery, thousands of miles away. The robotic avatar would have to have features and maneuverability that are very human like. This would certainly put outsourcing on steroids if this became practical and widespread. Perhaps a one world currency is over due? Or, international monetary and taxation policies will soon be turned on their head with emerging technologies.
